Madurai: Chief Minister Stalin on Thursday inaugurated the grand convention center hall built at a cost of Rs 47.72 crore on 2.47 acres at Tamukkam Maidan, Madurai.
Madurai metropolitan area does not have a grand convention hall, trade center and multi-purpose convention center hall like Chennai. As a result, entrepreneurs, trade associations and private companies were unable to hold seminars and exhibitions in the city. Even though there are private wedding halls, there is not enough space and parking facilities so big trade fairs like Chennai are not held in Madurai. As a result, Madurai’s trade and employment were affected.
