Avoid artificial sweeteners to lose weight: World Health Organization advice

New Delhi: Artificial sweeteners such as NSS (Non-Sugar Sweeteners) such as Aspartame, Neotame, Saccharin, Stevia, Sucralose, Cyclamates etc. are being used instead of sugar to control body weight and reduce body weight.

They are used in packaged food products and soft drinks and are also sold individually. These artificial sweeteners are used in place of sugar in various foods. These are low in calories and are believed to aid in weight management.

However, artificial sweeteners do not provide long-term benefits in weight management. According to a report published by the World Health Organization (WHO), these do not provide long-term benefits to anyone, be they adults or children.

Also, WHO advises not to use artificial sweeteners to lose weight.
