Chennai: The Tamil Nadu cabinet meeting will be held on 26th at 9.30 am under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. In this, this meeting is being held to finalize and approve the emergency bill related to online rummy and to give permission and concessions for new investments.
In Tamil Nadu, many people commit suicide due to online games including online rummy. Therefore, various parties are insisting to ban online gambling games including online rummy.

During the last AIADMK regime, the law brought to ban online rummy was struck down by the High Court. In this case, the current DMK government is working on the implementation of the new emergency law after studying with legal experts and asking opinions from various parties.
As the government is determined that this law should not be repealed by the court, consultation meetings were held under the leadership of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Chief Secretary V. Irayanpu.
Last Aug. In the cabinet meeting held on 29th, the laws to ban online games, experts’ opinions and important features to be included in it were discussed. Also, it was informed in the cabinet that an emergency law will be issued soon.
The assembly meeting is scheduled to be held in the 2nd week of October. Before this, an ordinance related to online rummy was issued, then it was discussed in the assembly and the ordinance is going to be passed.
Business investment schemes
In this case, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet will meet on the 26th under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin. In this meeting, an emergency bill related to the ban on online rummy is expected to be approved. Also, the chief secretariat sources said that decisions are also to be taken to give approval and concessions to the new business investment projects coming to Tamil Nadu.
Ministers including Duraimurugan, K.N. Nehru, I. Periyasamy, K. Ponmudi, Chief Secretary V. Irayanbu, Home Secretary K. Panindra Reddy, Finance Secretary N. Muruganandam, Industry Secretary S. Krishnan and the Chief Minister’s secretaries will participate in this meeting. .
