Chennai: “The rain water drainage work is the only proof that no work can be carried out in this administration without corruption and bribery. The same situation exists in all the municipal corporations like Vellore and Coimbatore,” BJP state vice president Narayanan Tirupathi said.
He issued a statement in this regard: “Singhara Chennai is turning into Alangola Chennai. They are ruining Chennai in the name of rainwater drainage work. The streets of Chennai are full of death pits and sinkholes.

It is cruel that the people are suffering so much that they cannot see the eyes and ears of the rulers. Piles of mud and sand on many streets due to ill-planned work. Due to the few days of light rains, the pits have accumulated water and become the center of breeding of mosquitoes and dengue fever is spreading rapidly. While digging ditches for rainwater drainage, many houses are cut off or damaged by water connection, telephone connection, internet connection, etc.
There is no way to complain or find a solution and people have lost their senses. Corporation officials in the affected areas cannot be seen or contacted. It is cruel that the assistant engineer and the zonal engineer working in my area do not call me on the phone to tell me about the problems in the Adyar area where I live.
In the coming days, if there is a light rain, there is a risk that all the streets will turn into muddy puddles, but no one is worried about this. 90 percent of the workers involved in this work are from outside the country. They work like machines and do not work with situational awareness. They cut ditches on both sides of the road to the extent that some streets are impassable.
If you ask the people monitoring the workers about this, they talk in a threatening tone. Contractors are working with raiders. It is truly cruel and cruel that even if you report these threats to the local police station, no one will take notice. No more proof is needed that Chennai has become the capital of raiders under the DMK regime.
I asked some of the municipal officials why there was a need to carry out these works in a riotous manner, like a rush of water. Their response was surprising. It is said that the contract for the rainwater drainage work was made in the previous regime and there is a time limit for these contracts till next year, and those who have already given a large part of the amount of the contract work as a bribe are being forced to pay multiple percentages, otherwise the contract will be cancelled.
That is why the municipal administration is having fun with their hands and mouths tied by engaging workers from outside the state to complete the work in a hurry and creating various problems for the people. It is not uncommon to hear that daily many vehicles are involved in accidents and people are suffering due to these defective works. No one is ready for a solution.
The rain water drainage project is the only proof that no work can be completed in this administration without corruption and bribery. The situation is similar in all the Municipal Corporations like Vellore and Coimbatore. As if the song Kasu pani tutu mani mani has become the official song of Tamil Nadu, Chennai is scattered like a sandalwood garland found in the hand of a monkey,” it said.
