Tamil Nadu Rural Development Minister KR Periyagaruppan and Central Rural Development Minister Giri Raj Singh met in Delhi yesterday and submitted the petition. In an interview given by him in this regard, he said, “We have met the Minister of Rural Development Giriraj Singh of the Union Government, out of respect and at the same time we have been making requests for the needs of Tamil Nadu.
Especially in Tamil Nadu, after the government headed by the Chief Minister took over the many works that were shelved by the previous rulers, we have completed many unfinished works in the years 18-19, 19-20, 20-21 and have received the corresponding amounts from the Union Government.
In that way, last year, including the funds allotted to the state and similarly those works which were allotted during the last three years during the AIADMK regime and the works were not completed, we not only received an amount of Rs.
For this, the Union Minister has praised the activities of the Rural Development Department of the Tamil Nadu Government. Next, Tamil Nadu is a developed state. During the reign of the late former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, he had made the road revolution that day connecting the villages, villages and even the nearby cities with roads. On that basis, Tamil Nadu is a state that is full of road facilities more than other states, especially rural roads. The length of those roads is about one lakh 50 thousand kilometers. Therefore, a request is now made to provide additional funds allocated for maintenance and improvement. They have said that they are considering it.
Community halls are considered a major need in all panchayats in Tamil Nadu, especially in coastal districts and hilly areas, where people can live in villages. Those community halls are used for many needs from villagers to rain dwellers to coastal dwellers. So the needs for those community halls which are used for multi-purpose use have increased in Tamil Nadu.
In that way, even if the Union Government says that there is no such program in India yet, we have a demand that Tamil Nadu should take it as an example. We have given the necessary petitions to the minister as a request for both. He has said that he will consider it.
On June 3rd, the Minister of Rural Development of the Union Government announced that he would convene a conference of the Ministers of Rural Development of the Southern States in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. After the artist told the reason that day was their birthday, Isavu said that they would hold it on the 10th of the same month. On the 10th, it was also postponed due to the fact that he was in a program with the Prime Minister in Delhi. In the interim, he was infected with Covid. Now he is getting well.
On that basis, we have informed him about when he will come to Tamil Nadu, when the conference is going to be held, and at the time of his arrival, we can personally examine the activities of these projects, the projects that we have emphasized and the projects that may be in practice. They have said that they will announce the date soon,” said the minister.
