The 22nd Commonwealth Games were held in Birmingham, UK. A total of 280 matches were held in 20 sports including swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, volleyball, boxing, hockey, wrestling and squash. Players from 72 countries participated in this tournament. More than 200 players participated in 15 sports on behalf of India.
India won the silver medal after losing to Australia in the women’s cricket T20 final yesterday.
In the table tennis mixed doubles final, India’s Sarath Kamal – Ja Akula won the gold by defeating Malaysia’s Soong Javan – Line Karen 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6.

Tamil Nadu player Asanta Sarath Kamal won 3 gold and one silver in table tennis. He won 3 gold medals in mixed doubles, men’s singles and men’s team category and silver in men’s doubles along with Tamil Nadu player Satyan.
