In this case, 5 persons including the principal, secretary, principal and teachers of the school had filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking bail. Madras High Court had recently granted bail to 5 people in this case. Further, it had announced that a detailed order would be issued later. The details of the judgment passed by Judge GK Ilanthirayan who heard the case are:
> The principal, secretary and principal of the school arrested in the Kallakurichi student death case should stay in Madurai. He stipulated that the two teachers should stay in Salem. Teachers Krithika and Haripriya are required to appear at Salem Sewwaipet police station every morning and evening for 4 weeks and sign. Then have to appear before the CBCIT police every morning and evening for 4 weeks and sign. He has made it a condition to appear when required for the investigation.
> It is unfortunate that teachers are currently serving jail time for telling their students to study well. Teachers who teach the subject are forced into the unfortunate situation of having to face threats from students and parents. Even in the student’s suicide note, there is no evidence that the teachers encouraged her to commit suicide. Teaching students to read well is part of a teacher’s job. Therefore, the allegation leveled against the petitioners of inciting the student to commit suicide is not applicable.
> The court expresses regret that the student committed suicide due to problems in her studies. In his order, the judge said that such incidents should not happen in future.
