Chennai: Chief Minister M.K.Stalin unveiled “Ethanol Policy 2023”, which promotes Tamil Nadu as a green economy and an investment hub for low-cost alternative green fuels.
‘Tamil Nadu Ethanol Policy 2023’, ‘Tamil Nadu City Gas Distribution Policy 2023’, ‘Tamil Nadu Freight Transport Policy and Integrated Freight Transport Plan 2023’ and ‘Tamil Nadu Technical Textiles, Synthetic Fiber from Recycled Materials’ prepared by Tamil Nadu Industry, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department. , Special Scheme for Synthetic Fiber Fabrics and Garment Products’ was held at the Head Secretariat, Chennai yesterday. These were released by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.

Industry, Investment Promotion and Trade Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Chief Secretary V. Irayanbu, Industry Secretary S. Krishnan, Additional Secretary M. Pallavi Paldev, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Managing Director Jayashree Muralitharan, Mentoring Institute Executive Director Asha Ajith and others participated.
Ethanol Principle: The policy aims to develop Tamil Nadu as a green economy and investment hub for low-cost alternative green fuels. Ethanol blended petrol will reduce vehicle emissions significantly and maintain hygiene.

Also, there will be a revival in the efficiency of the sugar mills and the cash flow in the sugar mills will increase. Cane purchase amount due to farmers can be disbursed without delay. The income of farmers growing sugarcane and maize will increase.
It will also reduce the dependence on foreign countries for fuel imports and help India’s economic growth. This policy will be effective for 5 years from the date of notification.
Gas Supply Policy: This policy has been developed to encourage the use of environmentally friendly natural gas and to create the necessary rules and procedures to speed up the infrastructure in Tamil Nadu. Through this policy, natural gas is provided through pipeline to industries, vehicle use and 2.30 crore households. It is expected that through this, an investment of Rs.35,000 crore will be available in 8 years.

The objective of the policy is to ensure speedy development of city gas distribution infrastructure, make necessary rules and regulations to promote the use of natural gas, encourage adoption of liquefied natural gas as fuel in fishing vessels and telecommunication sector.
Freight Policy: This policy has been formulated with a vision to help the rapid economic growth of the state. Features of this policy include building strong transport infrastructure, promoting low cost, high service availability, creating single-party permits, and implementing new technology strategies.
Through the Freight Action Plan, 50 projects have been recommended on 3 highways. In the next 10 years, Rs 63,000 crore worth of action plans and employment for 1.6 lakh people will be created.
