Governor R. N. Ravi has said that they should answer those who use guns with guns. The Governor of Tamil Nadu RN Ravi was the special guest in the program organized by Human Rights Organization in Kochi, Kerala.
Speaking at the event, he said, “Those who use guns should be dealt with with guns. There is no need for zero tolerance in the face of violence. There is no need to negotiate with those who speak against the unity and integrity of the nation. There has been no negotiation with any armed groups in our country for the last 8 years. Only those who offer to surrender are welcome.
Terrorist threat in Kashmir, communal clashes in northeastern states, Maoist threat has reduced drastically in last 8 years.
The nation cannot forget the Mumbai terror attack. The manner in which the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, which ruled at the center at that time, handled that incident cannot be forgotten. First we need to make clear whether our neighbors are friendly or enemy countries. Just 10 terrorists terrorized our country. Nine months after the attack, the then prime minister and the prime minister of Pakistan signed a joint accord. It stated that both India and Pakistan are victims of terrorism.
How can this be accepted? Shouldn’t we have decided whether Pakistan is our friend or enemy and taken action? After the Pulwama attack, India launched an airstrike in Balakot. The attack sent the message that if you commit a terrorist attack, you pay a price. That’s how a government should behave,” he said.
Governor RN Ravi was an IPS officer. Since then he has also been the Governor of Meghalaya. It is noteworthy that NSCN Isaac Muivah led several rounds of negotiations on behalf of the government to resolve inter-group conflicts in Meghalaya.
