New York: The New York State Assembly is slated to pass a bill to provide holidays for Diwali and Chinese New Year.
People from different countries including India live in New York State, USA. In this case, people from their respective countries requested the New York state government to give a holiday for Diwali celebrated in India and New Year celebrated in China. Provincial members also raised this demand in the assembly.

In this case, New York State Assembly President Carl Heasty released a statement the day before yesterday, “It is necessary to approve the request for a holiday for Diwali and Chinese New Year in New York State. Therefore, the Bill in this regard will be passed in the current session of the Assembly. Before that, a consultation will be held with the concerned people in this regard,” he said.
