In particular, farmers are protesting by dumping milk on the road and on the ground. Due to the protests of milk producers in various parts of Tamil Nadu, the supply of milk has been disrupted.
The Union Government has been continuously attacking the farmers with the Land Acquisition Act and the increase in the interest rate on agricultural loans. The Milk Producers’ Association has demanded that the price of milk should be increased due to the increase in the price of cattle feed and animal care. Understanding this, it is the duty of the Tamil Nadu government to increase the purchase price of milk.
For the past several years, the producers have been demanding an increase in the purchase price of milk by Rs.10 per litre. However, in November last year, it raised the milk procurement price by Rs 3 per liter only. The manufacturers are insisting that the remaining 7 rupees should be increased now. If the milk producers’ union and the farmers’ struggle continues, there is a risk that the public of Tamil Nadu will be severely affected.
