Ariyalur: Jallikattu competition started today in Thirumanoor of Ariyalur district in honor of Masi Mahatma.
It is customary to hold jallikattu competitions in Thirumanoor of Ariyalur district every year in honor of Masi Mahath. Accordingly, the Jallikattu competition, which started today, was flagged off by State Transport Minister SS Shivashankar. This jallikattu competition is the first jallikattu competition of Ariyalur district this year.

In this, MLA Chinnappa, local body representatives, government department officials and many others participated. 300 medically tested bulls and 200 cowherds were allowed in the competition. Soldiers who tamed the raging bulls from Wadiwas were given cash and prizes. Similarly, the owners of uncaught bulls were given cash and prizes by the festival committee.
Bulls from various districts including Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Trichy participated in this competition. The jallikattu competition was witnessed by a large number of people from the surrounding villages. Ariyalur DSP Shankar Ganesh led the police on security duty.
