Regarding these actions, Enforcement Directorate officials said, “The frauds of Vijay, Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi have caused a loss of around Rs 22,858 crore to Indian banks. We are taking over the properties of these three to recover the loans and interest they have taken from the banks. Those properties will be auctioned under the supervision of the court. The proceeds are being released to the concerned banks. In the recent auction, Rs 8,411 crore was raised. In addition to this, we have handed over a total of Rs 23,000 crore to the banks so far. We are continuing to acquire more assets,” he said.
