Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced that senior leader of the Communist Party of India Nallakannu will be given the ‘Tagaisal Tamilar’ award.

In a press release issued by the Tamil Nadu government, a new award named “Tagaisal Tamilar” has been given by the Tamil Nadu government since 2021 to honor those who have contributed immensely to the development of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil community.
A consultative meeting of the committee constituted to select the awardee for this year was held at the Chief Secretariat, Chennai under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.
A senior Tamilian of the Communist Party of India, who engaged in public life at a young age, spent his youth in prison and in hiding as a freedom fighter, continued to strive to protect social harmony and environment, worked as a great selfless politician and contributed greatly to the development of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil community. It was unanimously decided by the Selection Committee to award the “Tagaisal Tamilar Award” for the year 2022 to President R. Nallakannu.
R. Nallakannu, who was selected for the “Tagaisal Tamilar” award, was presented with a check of ten lakh rupees and a certificate of appreciation at the upcoming Independence Day function by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. It will be provided by Stalin”.
