US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi left for Taiwan last night as part of her Asia tour. With this trip, Nancy Pelosi became the first US official to visit Taiwan after 25 years. Also in the press conference, “Taiwan has the support of the United States. “We stand with Taiwan,” Nancy said.
China expressed strong displeasure with Nancy’s visit. China also said that the US is interfering in China’s internal affairs.
China has announced major military exercises, including live-fire drills, around Taiwan from tomorrow to Sunday due to Nancy’s visit. As a result, there is tension around the island of Taiwan.
Russia commented on Nancy’s trip. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “The tension caused by Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan should not be underestimated. This is a provocative move against China,” he said.
