Chennai: The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an ordinance including the Fox and Sparrow communities in the tribal list.
In this regard, Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar, in a press release issued by the Tribal Welfare Department, said: The demand to add the nomadic tribal communities, the foxes and sparrows, to the tribal list of Tamil Nadu has been pending for a long time. After Chief Minister Stalin asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard, the central government gazetted the inclusion of the Narikuravar and Sparrow communities as the 37th tribe in the list of tribals in the state.

Accordingly, the government of Tamil Nadu on behalf of the Adi Dravidian and Tribal Welfare Department issued an order yesterday to enable the Narikkuravan and Kuruvikaran sections to be eligible to receive all the constitutional protection and welfare schemes.
At the same time, Chief Minister Stalin has requested the Prime Minister to amend and publish what was published in the gazette as ‘Fox, Sparrow’. The central government is carrying out the work for this.

Meanwhile, admissions in schools and colleges are going to start soon. Therefore, in order to avoid delay so that all those belonging to these categories should get tribal certificates in the coming academic year itself, the Tamil Nadu government has also issued this notification just like the central government. In the coming days, when the central government releases the revised notification after changing the name as requested by the Tamil Nadu government, the Tamil Nadu government will also publish the revised notification.
