New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi said that the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Kausal Samman scheme provides the necessary institutional support to artisans to get easy credit and sell their products easily.
In a post-Budget webinar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the project today. He then said, “Lord Vishwakarma is considered to be the creator and architect. His idol is with various tools in hand. There is a long tradition in our society of making various things by hand with the help of tools. There are such people all over the country. We cannot leave them alone. Create handicrafts in the traditional way and preserve that skill. They have created a unique identity. They are symbols of the true spirit of India’s self-reliance.

Even after the independence of the country, the artisans often did not get the government assistance they needed. Due to this, the artisans who are the informal workers were forced to do the available work for their livelihood. Many are abandoning their traditional occupations.
After the announcement of the Samman scheme by Prime Minister Vishwakarma Kaushal, the media and economists are paying more attention. The scheme plays a vital role in the development of the country and in preserving the production of local handicrafts by small artisans. The Vishwakarma Yojana provides institutional support to artisans by providing them with easy access to credit, promoting the sale of products.
