Palani, Kodaikanal received heavy rain at dawn. Kodaikanal-Adukkam hill road has been blocked for traffic due to mudslide and split in the road.

Palani, Kodaikanal of Dindigul district received heavy rain from last night till yesterday morning. Due to this, District Collector S.Visagan gave holiday only to schools and colleges in Kodaikanal. Even though there was heavy rain in Palani, the students went drenched in the rain because they did not give holidays to schools and colleges. In many places rainwater entered the houses.
Traffic was disrupted on the Palani-Kodaikanal road after falling trees. Sudden waterfalls appeared at many places on the mountain road and poured water.
There is regular public transport going to Kodaikanal via Wattalakundu and Palani.
Public transport on the Kodaikanal-Kasakam-Periyakulam road, which is an alternate route, has not yet started. Residents of the rural areas here used to use this road to transport two-wheelers and produce in goods vehicles. Landslides continue to occur frequently during rains on this road.
Due to incessant rains, mudslides occurred at more than three places on the mountain road from Kodaikanal to Periyakulam via Skalakam yesterday. A split occurred in the middle of the road at Kurdikadu and the road shifted and fell. Due to this, vehicular traffic was completely banned.
The hill villagers in Balamalai and Sambakad were paralyzed in the villages. The highway department is carrying out rehabilitation work at the places where landslides have occurred.
