Chennai: “Though the central government refuses to conduct a caste-wise census, there is now no obstacle for the state governments to conduct it. Therefore, if the Tamil Nadu government, with the support of all parties, conducts a caste-wise census at the state level, we can accept the demands of all communities and maintain social justice,” Tamil Nadu Life Rights Party President Velmurugan said. .

In this regard, he issued a statement: “Social justice, known by various names as class-wise representation, proportional rights and reservation, is the root of democracy. To maintain this social justice, the Tamil Nadu Right to Life Party has been constantly emphasizing that a caste-wise census is needed.

They scream that if a caste-wise census is conducted, the society will be divided. For those who want caste differences to remain and continue, a fear arises whenever the government provides assistance on the basis of caste handicap.

It is the fear that those who do not have the power to raise their heads for equality, due to reservation given by the government, will get stronger and come to demand equality. Due to this, whichever party is in power at the center, the caste-wise enumeration has been stuck in a deadlock without being able to discuss and reach a decision.

In 1931, the British government asked for and recorded the caste in the population census. After that, in 1941, the census was not conducted properly due to the deterioration of the British power due to the Second World War.

Caste-wise census is ongoing only for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Tribes. The reason why the supremacists accept this is because they believe that the people who are at the bottom in the oppressive system will not rise up and compete with them.

But the caste dominants have always had the fear that the backward and highly backward peoples would challenge their dominance if they got government assistance. So they make up various stories by pretending to be good people.

It is a myth that caste still exists only because caste is asked in educational institutions.

If caste-based reservation in education and employment is not provided, caste people – who are marginalized by birth – will not have the psychological strength and determination to claim their rights and insist that they are not inferior to anyone.

Therefore, caste-wise census is important to ensure equal rights for all community members. Based on that, reservation is social justice.

The government needs an account of the amount of people who are eligible to receive all these. Secondly, the population of each of the backward and most backward castes should be known. What is the population of advanced castes?

Caste-wise census is mandatory to reduce the caste dominance and uproot the downtrodden people. It is the duty of the democratic forces of all castes to break the hoax that the dominant castes will increase the caste divide.

At the same time, the caste-wise census should be taken with the respective state as the basic unit. The Scheduled Tribes, Backward, Very Backward and Advanced should be enumerated in the respective state only. All India should not be considered as one unit. The state should be taken as a unit.

The sum total of the list in the states should be calculated as the all-India sum. Similarly, while implementing schemes including reservation, even if it is an all-India task, the quota ratio should be provided state-wise.

Also, even though the central government has refused to conduct a caste-wise census, there is now no restriction on the state governments to conduct it. Therefore, the Tamilnadu Life Rights Party points out that only if the Tamil Nadu government conducts a caste-wise census at the state level with the support of all parties, the demands of all communities can be accepted and social justice can be maintained.

Now, on the basis of the above reasons and demands, I would like to inform you that on the 16th, Tamil Nadu Right to Life Party is holding a massive demand demonstration in front of the office of the District Collector, Kotakshiar and Vatatikshiar across Tamil Nadu, demanding a caste-wise census,” he said.
