Beijing: China’s single political party, the Communist Party of China, usually elects its president. Accordingly, Xi Jinping was re-elected as the President at the Congress of the Communist Party of China.
The country’s parliament, the National People’s Congress, unanimously approved Xi Jinping’s selection, which recognizes the party’s decision as it stands. Subsequently, Xi Jinping was sworn in yesterday for the 3rd time in a row as the President of China in the Parliament.

Xi Jinping is the first leader since Mao, the founder of the Chinese Communist Party, to serve more than two terms as president. Since coming to power in 2012, he has sidelined his rivals and filled top positions in the ruling Communist Party with his supporters.
Xi Jinping was re-elected for a 5-year term as Party General Secretary last October. It is customary for Chinese leaders to hand over the post after 10 years. Ji Jinping broke that tradition.
