54 hostels in Tamil Nadu for children of working women - Central Govt

494 protective shelters are functioning across the country for the children of working women.

Funding for working women’s hostels called Shakti Niwas is directly provided by the Central Government, State and Union Territory Governments. Accordingly, 494 protective shelters are functioning across the country for the children of working women

Of these, 54 hotels are operating in Tamil Nadu and 3 hotels in Puducherry.

Tamil Nadu was given Rs 392.18 lakh for these purposes in the last financial year 2020-21 and the entire amount was utilized. 350.25 lakhs was provided in the financial year 2021-22. The entire amount was used.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani informed this in the Rajya Sabha today.
