Muslims serve refreshments to devotees: Madurai Chitra Festival celebrates religious harmony

The world famous Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple painting festival has started on 23rd with flag hoisting. Every day Amman and Swami are walking in the streets of Masi and showering blessings on the devotees. To quench the thirst of pilgrims from different parts of the country, many people are setting up drinking water stalls and offering water and food.

In this case, in order to alleviate the fatigue of the devotees who could visit the Meenakshi Amman Koil Chitrai festival and to celebrate religious harmony, the famous Mukhaideen Andavar Pallivasal in Madurai South Gate area provided refreshments including rose milk to the devotees.

This incident, where the Muslims gave refreshments to the devotees who came to the temple to have darshan of Sami, has caused a sensation. The participants of the festival said that this is a testimony to the fact that the Chitrait festival celebrated in Madurai is celebrated as a festival celebrating the past unity of religions.
