French company Urco is trying to create synthetic skin as a replacement for burn victims who have trouble growing new skin.
People’s skin is greatly affected by incidents such as acid attack and fire. Bringing it back to normal is not possible for everyone. Considered the “holy grail of wound treatment,” the $106 million “Genesis” project by the French company hopes to bring this synthetic skin design to life by 2030.

The primary armor of our body is the skin. They are designing an artificial skin to perform all the functions of skin, including protection from external heat, cold, friction, and temperature regulation.

When artificial skin becomes a barrier to human skin, it is reported that living cells have been infused with this artificial skin to mimic the same consistency as other human cells. Urgo has been manufacturing medical dressings since the 1800s. If the synthetic skin product is successful, it will be a major achievement in the medical world.

“Since the 2000s, we’ve been making medical dressings with materials that can correct physical problems. Today, medicine and medical texts are giving good results. They talk to the problems in the body and help to fix them,” said Laurent Abert, research director at Urco.
A similar synthetic skin product was previously developed at the University of South Australia. It is formulated to be active against antibiotic resistant bacteria. This product is being invented to help people who have lost their skin due to burns.
