Puducherry: Bharat Kumar is studying 8th standard in Mettupalayam Government High School, Puducherry. With the guidance of science teacher Anita, he has developed a weather device that provides information such as temperature, air humidity, rain forecast and air pressure in a simple technique.
The device was displayed by student Bharatkumar at a science fair held at the school. It was selected as the best work. Subsequently, he participated with this device in the middle category in the Regional Science Fair organized by Puducherry School Education Department.

In this, the weather device developed by Bharatkumar was selected for the 3rd prize. In the prize giving ceremony which followed, Chief Minister Rangaswamy praised the student Bharat Kumar and presented him with a prize. When student Bharatkumar said about this, I planned to study about the changing climate. For this we decided to make a weather device using simple technology after reading the articles of Tamil Nadu Meteorologists under the guidance of teacher Anita.
A weather station gives details of atmospheric temperature, pressure and humidity around us. We planned to get that information in a simple way and built a weather device with IoT (Internet of Things) network. This network connects various electronic devices.

The main features of this system include DHT11 sensor, flying fish MQ135 sensor, BMP280 sensor, LTR sensor. This device comes with a very low cost Wi-Fi package and all other sensors.
The DHT11 sensor is a low-cost digital sensor that senses temperature and humidity. Flying fish mq sensor is also known as air quality gas sensor. It detects harmful gases like ammonia. The BMP 280 sensor is a barometric pressure sensor that measures atmospheric pressure. The LTR is a light sensor. It works based on the intensity of the day.
This weather station created with such simple technology will upload information like temperature, air humidity, rain forecast, air pressure to the computer every 4 hours. Through this we can plan our trips by knowing the weather information.

He said that in the future, he plans to make this device smaller and perform microclimate analysis in many places to improve human life by monitoring the pollution and micro-organisms in the air.
