Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the company has been making drastic changes and announcements. On January 11, workers at Twitter’s Singapore office were asked to vacate the premises that same day. A mail was sent saying that you have until 5pm to leave the Capitagreen building.
Elon Musk has been working hard to drastically cut costs since buying Twitter for $44 billion. All sides are looking to cut costs, including laying off employees and cutting company rent. He laid off around 3,700 employees in November last year. He threw many people out of work in India. Speaking about this, Elon Musk said that Twitter is like a plane with an engine on fire that is heading towards the ground at high speed and that is why it is cutting costs like crazy.
Meanwhile, Twitter’s head office is operating in a building owned by a company called Columbia Raid in San Francisco. There is also a problem of non-payment of office rent. As a result, Columbia Raid sent a notice to Twitter on December 16. It stated that the rent amounting to USD 1,36,250 should be paid within 5 days. This is Rs 1.12 crore in Indian rupee terms. However, it is said that Twitter did not provide the rent. Columbia Raid is suing Twitter in state court in San Francisco because of this. Twitter is reportedly not paying rent not only for its San Francisco office but also for other companies operating globally.
