In this context, Truecaller has partnered with Meta to combat the increasing number of fraudulent activities on WhatsApp. With this, users can easily identify and block spam calls and messages. As of now, it is reported to be available for beta users only. It will be rolled out worldwide later this month. This was confirmed by Alan Mamedi, CEO of Truecaller.
Citing a 2021 report, he said that every Indian receives an average of 17 calls per month from telemarketing and scams. Users may have received calls, missed calls and messages from unknown numbers on WhatsApp. Often it contains the Country Code of other countries. Some will just block it on WhatsApp. Some will report it on WhatsApp. Truecaller helps identify who it is in this environment.
