Sriharikota: ISRO’s GSLV Mark-3 rocket successfully launched with 36 satellites weighing around 5,805 kg. This rocket has been launched for commercial purposes. GSLV Mark-3 is carrying the satellites belonging to UK’s OneWeb in this mission.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launches satellites into space using PSLV and GSLV rockets. In this, ISRO is trying to launch commercial satellites with GSLV Mark-3 (LVM-3) rocket.

Accordingly, ISRO’s NSIL entered into an MoU last year to launch 72 satellites of UK-based OneWeb through GSLV. In the first phase, 36 satellites were successfully launched on October 23 last year by the GSLV Mark-3 rocket.
In the second phase, 36 satellites were launched today (March 26) at 9 am by GSLV Mark-3 rocket from the 2nd launch pad of Satish Dhawan Research Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The countdown for this started at 8.30 am yesterday. The total weight of the 36 satellites is 5,805 kg. All these are about 450 km from Earth. Far away are positioned in Earth’s orbit.
